SusE Linux Enterprise 10.1 Desktop and Server are the present commercial offerings (9/06)

The free version is available for
32 Bit
and 64 Bit
Computers, however it seems to be only available as a DVD image

Redhat Home Site

Fedora is the free version of the RedHat distribution (Fedora Core 5 is current - 9/06)
Fedora is available for both 32 bit and 64 bit i386 compatible and Macintosh
The distributions are available as CD images (5 CD's) as well as a DVD image

Debian Home Site

(no stable 64-bit release)
Debian 3.1 is current (9/1/2006)
One claim is "as soon as Debian is up and running, all future updates of any scale can be accomplished via the apt-get utility" and eases all upgrades.

Note - I installed ver 8.0 on 5/7/2002 - The installation is lacking in autodetection of the mouse, video, ... (I installed Redhat the next day and it autodetected everything)
